Nathan Johnston returns to The Workman's Club on 20 November for his first Dublin solo headline show in several years since leaving behind the Sion Hill moniker. Performing with a full live band, Johnston will bring together new material from his emerging solo project with songs from across his career. The night will also feature special guests, DJs from Dublin vinyl collective ‘Soundglasses’ and an exhibition of original artwork from Brazilian born, Dublin based artist Barbara 'BB' Soares. 

Nathan Johnston blends the grit of blues and the warmth of classic soul into timeless songs with a distinctly modern voice - one that is equal parts crooner, storyteller and songwriter.

Originally from Mullingar, Ireland, Johnston has spent the past decade moving between Berlin, Hamburg, London, Brighton and Dublin, building a career that has taken him across Europe and seen him perform alongside artists including Pete Doherty, A-ha and Alice Merton.Along the way, he released music as Sion Hill, before going on to collaborate with Hamburg soul collective Angels of Libra, releasing the album Nathan Johnston & The Angels of Libra in 2022 and the subsequent Road To Mandalay in 2026.

Now back in Dublin and working under his own name, Johnston is entering a new chapter, bringing together the songwriting, soul and live experience accumulated over years of moving between cities, bands and projects, while putting his own voice firmly at the centre.That new chapter began in July 2026 with 'Outlanders', a self-released single about following your own path, finding where you belong and having the courage to change direction. Written during a solo trip to Corfu, the song marks the beginning of a new body of work that strips things back to the essentials: raw vocals, guitar, groove and soul.

Johnston's previous work has earned international radio play from BBC Radio 6 Music and Germany's Radio Eins, alongside extensive European touring and festival appearances.With a new solo record now in production with guitarist and producer Sebastian Nagle (The Winston Brothers), Johnston is building towards a fresh live and recorded project for 2027, one rooted in classic songwriting and soul but with a contemporary edge
